We’re About 30 Seconds From The Next Great Flood

We’re about 30 seconds from the next great flood, only this time it’s going to rain fire.

“But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water. By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.” –2 Peter 3:5-7

The bible tells us that God’s FINAL response to a world flooded with sin was to send the Great Flood. The world was deluged with water and in one great act of judgment and cleansing the world was washed clean of what had become a stinking pile of sin that went on ceaselessly day and night.

“The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.” -Genesis 6:5

It was a “this much and no more” moment in human history. Judgment had come and the world was about to find out that God disapproved of all the things they so happily threw themselves into. Sin had reached epic status. The world reveled in it and looked at sin as a virtue! God’s word has never changed in regard to this:

“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.” -Isaiah 5:20

Woe to you. And that is where we’re at, isn’t is? Let’s be honest.

The world is rapidly approving of everything God hates. It is taking everything He calls good and labeling it evil, and it is taking everything God calls evil and saying it’s good. The world is in love with things God detests. There are so many things about which this is true that there is no point in listing them one by one. We are witnessing a rapid avalanche of sin in every direction we look and the one thing that marks this period in human history is very much like the thing that marked Noah’s day- utter corruption.

“Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence. God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways.” -Genesis 6:11-12

No matter what corner of the world we peer into we find corruption; from the church to the government, from our private lives to our public ones we are seeing it- corruption on a massive scale. It has invaded us and we have invited it into our hearts and homes and called it our friend. We are barely aware anymore that we suffer from the disease, we are convinced that our beliefs and lives are “normal”. If someone should call us out over some issue and declare we have gone very wrong in our thinking or actions we respond with derision, contempt and scorn. We are a people “who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.” We have become those to whom the bible refers-

“He who is often reproved, yet stiffens his neck, will suddenly be broken beyond healing.” -Proverbs 29:1

The world is an enemy of God. The bible is clear on that fact in many, many places. What we are witnessing all around us is an unmistakable proof of that, for while the world loves to talk about God it continues to approve and promote the very things He hates! A cacophony of voices from the media to your friends on Facebook are trying to tell us that this upside down world we’re living in is “normal”. When evil becomes good every crazy thing that used to be wrong is now applauded. Heaven help the person that speaks out to say otherwise.

That is the truth of our day- Heaven help the person who dares to think for themselves; heaven help the one who starts to question the insane direction this world is heading.

We’re about 30 seconds from the judgment of fire. It will come.

“But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.” -2 Peter 3:10

What I’m about to say will be laughed at by many, but it’s time to repent and turn to Jesus while you still can.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” -John 3:16

It’s not being honest to blunt the truth that judgment is coming to this world. The bible is very clear on that fact; it’s not a question of if, but when. The greatest truth of all, however, is that God would rather show mercy. His love compels Him and He is showing patience that more might be rescued out of this mess.

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” -2 Peter 3:9

We should not consider that a lack of punishment implies God’s approval of our behavior. Rather, He is being patient in order to spare as many as possible! So, while you still have opportunity turn your life over to Jesus.

” As God’s co-workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain. For he says,

“In the time of my favor I heard you,
and in the day of salvation I helped you.”

I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.” -2 Corinthians 6:1-2
