To Christian, My True Son In The Faith

“To Christian” is the title track to my piano/vocal worship album. It’s a bit different than most of the songs on the album because it has a “challenge” element to it.

The Christian is in the world, but not of it

Every now and then we should step back and let ourselves be challenged as to where our Christian lives are at. Because we are living in this world it’s very easy to slip into the patterns of the world and be conformed to it. We may go on and talk much about Jesus and our love for Him, but has the world broken in on our relationship with Jesus?

The scriptures warn us in many places to be very careful when it comes to the world because the heart of the world system is anti-Christ in spirit. The world has no love for God, and the world system is His enemy. In fact, so true is this that the world is set up in such a way as to ignore God completely as if He didn’t even exist.

We know, of course, who is behind this effort to put God away and would have nothing to do with the Devil, but are we aware that the appealing things in the world are used as his lures to entice us away from Jesus? We should be careful then, and discerning, lest we fall by some trap that has been laid through “the ways of the world”.

doctrines that are meant to lead
your soul away from God

If they can they’ll spoil you
through vain philosophy
and the ways of the world

The way that leads to life is narrow

many false Christs shall appear,
With wise persuasive words
they’ll say the things you want to hear

If they can
they’ll take you down the road of their despair
through the ways of the world

Many have endeavored
to find other ways to God,
they violate their conscience
and are dashed upon the rocks

I tell you this
so no one will deceive you with their talk
and the ways of the world

Where is the learned,
intelligent, debater of this age
has not God brought their wisdom to an end?
For all the wisdom of the wise
was brought down in a day
by the lowliest and most despised of men…

By his death upon the cross,
by the blood He shed for us!

Now there is only one Salvation
one way back to God,
The father gave us proof of this
by raising Jesus up

That’s how He showed His love for us,
He sent his only Son
as the Savior of the world!
