What have we gained from it all?

Who is gonna take the time to be alone with God?

In a busy hurried world,

who'll take the time to know His love?

For we are all like sheep, we've gone astray,

we've all gone wrong

and what have we gained from it all?

You can gain the whole world

and yet lose your very soul

who is gonna take the time until they really know,

Some of us have built on sand,

but we're acting like it's gold

and what have we gained from it all?

And it's hard to understand

how we can love so many things

and not enjoy the One

who  brought the world into being,

Like children we're receiving toys

and walking far away

from the Father who gave it all to us

And who is gonna take the time to worship and to praise

and offer up their life to him a living sacrifice,

We are all too occupied with living our own lives

and what have we gained from it all?

And it's not that we don't understand

that God is really there

it's more like we all know it's true

and we don't even care,

We think we've got it all worked out,

but we're so unaware

that He's hurting, and He wants us to come home

Who is gonna take the time to listen to their heart

I know that there's some of you that are willing and who are,

You can hear the voice of Jesus calling from afar

He's saying, "What have you gained from it all?"

"I've prepared a place for you, I'd sure like you to see

but you're holding on to all these things,

you're letting go of me

Why do you love the world so much and hate eternity...

What have you gained from it all?
