I don’t wanna be religious and I’m tired of the show
Whatever happened just to Jesus?
That’s all I really wanna know

I don’t want your formal dead religion Or swingin’ off some candalier,
It’s true in each denomination
Our tricks make Jesus disappear!

And I’m looking across this barren nation
And I’m feelin’ the hearts of many stop,
Yeah it’s true there’s a church on every corner
But did you know there’s a bar just down the block?

And I’m not trying to bring you condemnation
But it’s time that we open up our eyes-
Jesus is not religious
He just wants our life

How do you wake a sleeping nation? How many judgements will it take?
Before we rise to the occasion and we repent of our “mistakes”,
How do we try to preach the gospel when they’ve been sold a bill of goods-
Just get you name upon the church roll and give your tithe like Christians should!
