Psalms, Hymns and Spiritual songs...MUSIC...that's all

about Jesus and getting to know Him better, that's what

Songs of Jesus is all about.

It says in Ephesians that we are supposed to "speak to

one another" using music!  The goal of my songs is to

do just that.  As important as "worship music" is to the

church,  it's not the only purpose God has intended for

Christian music.   Even in the Old Testament singers

were used to convey God's messages.

"...for the ministry of prophesying accompanied by harps,

lyres and cymbals."  1Chronicles 25.1

In the New Testament we are told to "speak to one another

with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs..." Ephesians 5.19

It's music with a message!  To encourage, correct, instruct;

to build us up in the faith and to keep our eyes on Jesus.

The testimonies, the music, the entire site exists with the hope

that you may come to know Him,  or get to know Him better.

It's my hope that you can see that music is not the goal...

Jesus, and knowing Him is.  It's all about relationship and

not about religion.

Currently I'm working on songs that focus on aspects of

being followers of Jesus.  I believe in the simple faith that

is expressed and lived out in the Book of Acts.  The goal

of the early church was to preach Jesus and follow Him.

Their building project was people, not bricks and steeples.

And I can't escape the fact that they didn't preach themselves.

"For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord,

and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake.  2 Cor 4.5

Jesus should be the focus, not us, or music, or ministries.

The songs I am working on currently are what I feel God

has been calling me to communicate to speak to these

issues.

Finally,  I believe Christian music needs to be held to higher

standards.  The Psalms are examples of this.  Although

they are songs, they are considered God's Word.  We

hold Pastors to high standards and would never let them

get away with preaching that is unscriptural,  yet so much

of "Christian music" fails that test, with barely a word of

protest.

As a Christian songwriter I believe I have a responsibility

to make sure my lyrics are solidly grounded in His truth.

Please pray for me that I will bring glory to Jesus by  abiding

in His truth in my life and songs.

My prayer for you is that you would keep your eyes on

Jesus and become single hearted in your devotion to Him.

He alone is "the way, the truth, the life"!
