My take-
All the symptoms this article talks about come from one root cause in my opinion- we have wandered away from Jesus. Because He is no longer the focus and substance of our gatherings, churches need all this other stuff (entertainment, American culturally driven experiences) to take the place that He should actually be filling.
In my post “Hold on to Jesus and His Word” I address the issue of the church embracing the surrounding culture:
“It is NOT our identification with culture that wins people to Christ, rather, it is the work of our Father who draws people to Christ. Our obsession needs to be with our Father and with His Son, not with the latest cultural fad. The Spirit of God points to JESUS, not to this world’s culture.”
My song “Whatever Happened To Jesus” also addresses the issue of the entertainment, culturally driven church.
