Stop beating yourself up!

Do you belong to Jesus?  Then read what the bible says about you…

“For I will forgive their wickedness and remember their sins no more.” (Hebrews 8:12)

Do you see what it says?  God isn’t remembering your sins!  So why are you?

You know what?  I’m tired of beating myself up.  I’m tired of remembering things that I have said and done that God has long ago forgotten.  I’m tired of waking up each morning with a cloud over my head wondering how I’m going to disappoint God today.  You know something?  That’s NOT the Christian life!

The Christian life is knowing that your sins are FORGIVEN, that God’s not holding them against you anymore.  The Christian life is knowing that you’re ACCEPTED in the Beloved and that NOTHING can snatch you out of His hand.  The term Gospel means, “good news”, not “bad news”.  Jesus is for us, not against us!

What does God say about us?  Well for today, I’ll just mention a couple things because this is going to take a lot more than just a single post.

He says:

1. Your wickedness is forgiven.

2. Your sins are forgotten.

3. You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus!

“He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”  (2 Corinthians 5:21)

Let’s make it even clearer…

“But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption…” (1 Corinthians 1:30)

In other words, the only reason you’re in Christ in the first place is because of Him.  And on top of that, you don’t have any righteousness in yourself, you never did and you never will- HE is your righteousness.  But here’s the awesome thing- Jesus is more than enough for you!  Everything you’re lacking and need, HE HAS.  And He is more than happy to give it to you, in fact, He’s already done it.

You are righteous in Him, right now, this very minute.  If you belong to Jesus, you are righteous in Him.  He’s not remembering your sins, He’s forgiven your wickedness- you are righteous in Him.

You don’t feel righteous?  Too bad!  You are righteous in Him and that’s all there is to it- you’re just going to have to come up to speed and believe what God has said about you!
