Arise My Love, My Beautiful One

My beloved speaks and says to me: “Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away.” -Song of Solomon 2:10

The Song of Songs (or Song of Solomon) is widely read as an allegory of the love relationship between God and His people. Far from being a dry, stuffy, religious experience the bible talks of RELATIONSHIP. Sin broke the relationship we have with God and Jesus came to restore that broken relationship. But not only does the bible talk about relationship, it talks about it in the language of passionate love. When I read the Song of Songs in the bible I see God’s love for His church, and our love for Him. The Song of Songs is a poetic masterpiece penned out of love!

“Arise My Love” is my Song of Songs. I wrote it to convey God’s passionate heart for His Church. We too often see the flaws in those of us who call ourselves Christians. We point them out and often focus on them. But God sees something different…

“You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.” (Song of Solomon 4:7)

The blood of Jesus has removed every stain and when He looks at us He sees His bride as altogether perfect and desirable. We are the object of His affection and desire of His heart.

Listen to my song and go to the bible and read the Song of Solomon, you will see that what I’m saying is true- God is passionately in love with you! You will also see in the Song of Solomon that the bride responds with adoration and desire for the One who holds her in such high regard. Being a Christian is not about being formal and dry and being bored, it’s about taking part in the greatest love relationship of your life!
